Utah Insurance Adjuster

Adjuster License Requirements

To become a licensed insurance adjuster in Utah, individuals must:

  • be 18 years of age or more.
  • have good faith intention to engage in insurance adjusting.
  • be competent and trustworthy.
  • not have any felony convictions or misdemeanors involving anything fiduciary, breach of trust, forgery, or theft.
  • residents of Utah and of states not requiring adjuster licenses must take an exam, administered by Thomson-Prometric.

Licensing Process

Reciprocity

  • Utah grants non-resident licenses to adjusters holding an adjuster's license in their home state on a reciprocal basis. Adjusters residing in states without licensing requirements must take the Utah exam.

Maintaining Your License in Utah

  • Those holding a Utah resident adjuster license, and those holding non-resident licenses whose state of residence does not require continuing education, must comply with Utah's Ce requirements.
  • 24 hours of continuing education (half of which must be "in class-room" and 3 of which must cover ethics) are required every two years to maintain a license in Utah.
