Louisiana Insurance Adjuster

Adjuster License Requirements

To become a licensed insurance adjuster in Louisiana,

  • Residents must:
    • Be 18 years of age or more.
    • Reside in or maintain a principal place of business in Louisiana;
    • Complete a prelicensing education program (when required) and pass an exam (when required);
    • Submit the appropriate forms and fees; and
    • Have the written consent of the commissioner of insurance pursuant to 18 U.S.C. 1033 (when required)
  • non-Residents must:
    • Be 18 years of age or more.
    • Be licensed in resident state and be in compliance with continuing education requirements in the resident state, or another state in which a nonresident license is held; and
    • Submit the appropriate forms and fees to the Department at the Contact address below.

Licensing Process

Reciprocity

  • Louisiana grants reciprocal licensing privileges to anyone holding a license from their home state. If your home state does not license adjusters, you must pass the Louisiana exam.

Maintaining Your License in Louisiana

  • 24 Hours Continuing Education is required Louisiana resident adjusters.
