Residential Program
Overview: The "Haag Certified Roof Inspector - Residential" program teaches students how to assess damage to all major types of residential (steep-slope) roofs. We begin with explanations of how hail and wind interacts with roofing, inspection safety, roof area calculations, and applicable codes. For each major roofing type discussed we profile manufacture, installation, weathering, hail damage, wind damage, maintenance, mechanical damage and repair costs. This course features composition, wood shingle/shake, concrete and clay tile, asbestos, fiber cement and various synthetic, slate, and metal roofing types. Case studies illustrate real-world inspection scenarios.

Overview: The "Haag Certified Roof Inspector - Commercial" program teaches attendees how to assess damage to all major types of commercial (low-slope/flat) roofing systems. In this course, we discuss inspection safety, roof area calculations, codes and industry standards, and weather characteristics. For each roofing type discussed, we profile manufacture, installation, weathering, hail damage, wind damage, maintenance, mechanical damage and repair costs. We featured built-up roofing, polymer-modified bitumen roofing, thermoplastic single-ply roofs (PVC and TPO), thermoset plastic single-ply roofs (EPDM, CSPE, PIB), SPF roofing, metal roofing, vegetated (green) roofing, low-slope roofing components, and roof coatings. Case studies illustrate real-world inspection scenarios.

What does HCRI stand for?
Haag Certified Roof Inspector .
What is the difference between HCRI Commercial and HCRI Residential?
The "commercial" version of HCRI covers damage assessment of flat roof systems more commonly found on commercial buildings. Some examples of roofing products covered in the commercial class are: built up, modified bitumen, TPO, PVC, EPDM, SPF, metal, and vegetated roof systems.
The "residential" version of HCRI covers damage assessment of sloped roofs, more commonly found on residential houses/buildings. Some examples of roofing products covered in the residential class are: composition, wood, tile, metal, slate, and fiber cement
What is the required experience I mus thave in order to attend an HCRI course?
In order to qualify for the residential HCRI course, you must have completed a minimum of 100 residential (sloped) roof inspections where you were the primary inspector, or you must have a minimum of 2 years of experience inspecting residential roofs for damage.
In order to qualify for the commercial HCRI course, you must have completed a minimum of 50 commercial (flat) roof inspections where you were the primary inspector, or you must have a minimum of 5 years experience inspecting commercial roofs
NOTE: Inspections are defined as adjusted claims, roof estimates, home inspections, or damage assessment of roofs.
Do you offer group discounts?
Yes! Haag offers 1 complimentary registration with one order of 4 paid registrations. In order to be eligible for this discount, all registrants must register at the same time, under the same registration.
What is the course cancellation policy?
A full refund, less a $35 administration fee will be issued if you cancel more than 30 days prior to the start of the class. 50% of registration fees will be refunded to you if you cancel between 30-11 days prior to the class start date. If you cancel within 10 days of the start of the class, you will not receive a refund. We offer one complimentary transfer of HCRI programs if you notify us more than 10 days prior that you cannot make your originally scheduled dates. A $100 transfer fee is charged if you transfer within 10 days of the start of your program, or if you have already used your one complimentary transfer.
How long does my certification last?
Your certification lasts 1 year; however you only need to take the class once every 5 years. In the "off" 4 years you will be required to renew your certification, update your contact records and pass a short on-line quiz in order to recertify.
What is the cost to certify?
The recertification cost annually is $100 for one certification or $150 if you are certified in commercial and residential. Every 5 years you are required to retake the class to maintain your certification, at which time you will be required to pay the full class fee to attend.
Do I have to pass a test to be certified?
Yes. A 100 question, multiple choice, open book test is given on the final day of your HCRI class. You must receive 70 or higher to pass the class/test.
Can I receive CE credit for taking these classes?
Yes. Haag is an approved provider of CE in all states that require CE for adjusters. We also have other accreditations through RCI, some Home Inspector Licensing agencies and the Johnson County (Kansas) contractor licensing board, amongst others. Call us if you have questions about your state/license requirements.
Can I use the HCRI logo for use in my marketing?
Yes. We provide a special logo which you are authorized to use only while your certification is active and in good standing. Along with the logo, we provide instructions on how the logo can and cannot be used.
Can my certification be revoked?
Haag reserves the right to revoke any certification at any time, for any reason. Haag may revoke a certification for any of (but not limited to) the following reasons: misrepresenting your experience at the time of registration for the program, unauthorized use of Haag's corporate or HCRI logo, criminal convictions, etc.
