Become an Oklahoma Insurance Adjuster
Licensing Rules and Online State Exam Prep for Oklahoma Claims Adjusters
AdjusterPro's Bottom-line: Oklahoma grants temporary licenses in the event of a catastrophe. For a permanent license, residents and qualified non-residents must proceed through registration with State Based Systems per below. There is an exam required for licensure, but non-residents who hold an independent adjuster license by examination in their home state may bypass this requirement.
Adjuster License Requirements
To become a licensed Oklahoma insurance adjuster, individuals must:
For a Resident license:
- Be 18 years of age.
- Be a bona fide resident of Oklahoma
- Apply for the license by submitting the proper application forms, and be able to provide background information as requested by the Commissioner of Insurance;
- Pay the appropriate fees;
- Schedule and pass the adjuster examination. You will have 180 days to pass the exam after applying for the adjuster license.
For a Non-Resident license:
- Be 18 years of age;
- Have passed an examination in the resident "home state" or declared "home state" as required by the Commissioner;
- Be a resident of a "home state" (“home state” refers to any state in which the adjuster's principal place of residence or principal place of business is located):
- If a non-resident does not have a home state that licenses adjusters by examination, he or she may declare another state which has an examination requirement as his or her “home state” for licensing purposes.
- The applicant’s “home state” must award nonresident adjuster licenses to residents of this state on the same basis.
- If not qualified for non-resident reciprocal licensing, schedule and pass the Oklahoma exam.
- Apply for the license by submitting the proper application forms, and be able to provide background information as requested by the Commissioner of Insurance;
- Pay the appropriate fees.
NOTE: If an applicant is a non-resident of the United States, he or she must have complied with all federal laws pertaining to employment and business transaction in the US.
