Become an Oklahoma Insurance Adjuster

Licensing Rules and State Exam Study Guides for Oklahoma Claims Adjusters

AdjusterPro's Bottom-line: Oklahoma grants temporary licenses in the event of a catastrophe. For a permanent license, residents and qualified non-residents must proceed through registration with Sircon per below. There is an exam required for licensure, but non-residents who hold an independent adjuster license in their home state may bypass this requirement.

Adjuster License Requirements

To become a licensed Oklahoma insurance adjuster, individuals must:

For a Resident license:

  • Be 18 years of age.
  • Be a bona fide resident of Oklahoma
  • Apply for the license by submitting the proper application forms, and be able to provide background information as requested by the Commissioner of Insurance;
  • Pay the appropriate fees;
  • Schedule and pass the adjuster examination. You will have 180 days to pass the exam after applying for the adjuster license.

For a Non-Resident license:

  • Be 18 years of age;
  • Prior to license the applicant must have passed an examination in the resident "home state" or declared "home state" as required by the Commissioner;
  • Be a resident of a state or "home state" meaning any state in which the adjuster's principa; place of residence or principle place of business is located:
      • If neither the state in which the adjuster maintains the principal place of residence nor the state in which the adjuster maintains the principal place of business has a licensing or examination requirement, the adjuster may declare another state which has an examination requirement and in which the adjuster is licensed to be the "home state."
      • The applicant’s “home state” must award nonresident adjuster licenses to residents of this state on the same basis.
  • Schedule and pass the Oklahoma exam, if not qualified for non-resident reciprocal licensing.
  • Apply for the license by submitting the proper application forms, and be able to provide background information as requested by the Commissioner of Insurance;
  • Pay the appropriate fees.

NOTE: If an applicant is a non-resident of the United States, he or she must have complied with all federal laws pertaining to employment and business transaction in the US.
