Licensing Rules and State Exam Study Guides for New Mexico Claims Adjusters

Adjuster License Requirements

To become a licensed New Mexico insurance adjuster, individuals must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older;
  • Have a minimum of one year of experience, education or training in the handling of losses or claims, such that they are capable of fulfilling the duties of an adjuster responsibly;
  • Be bonded in the amount of $10,000.
  • Pay the $30 licensing fee..

New Mexico License Application

  • Complete the New Mexico Adjuster Application Forms 207-b & 207-a and submit them with a fee of $30.00.
  • Complete the Bond form (appended to application forms).
  • All application and bond forms must be notarized.

Reciprocity

If you hold a resident license in any other state, then you may obtain the New Mexico Adjuster license reciprocally. If your home state does not license adjusters, you will need to submit a letter from your insurance commissioner or a copy of your state's statutes.

Maintaining Your License

  • There is no continuing education requirement for New Mexico adjusters. Non-residents do have to remain CE compliant in their home state, but there is no additional requirement for their New Mexico license.
  • License renewals are due on April 1st each year.
  • Be sure to keep your name and address information current with the Department of Insurance. Update your information here.

License Fees

  • Initial Licensing and Application Fee: $30.
  • License Renewal Fee: $30.
  • Make checks payable to “New Mexico Public Regulation Commission Insurance Division”
