Bottom line; we recommend that you hold a license in their state of residence and other limited strategic states, depending on your claims company requirements, your state of residence and your aspirations in the claims industry. If your state of residence does not license adjusters, we recommend obtaining significant, strategic state licenses, such as high-weather activity states (TX, FL, GA) and state with fewer adjusters, such as New York.

Mastering Estimatics Key to Success as Cat Adjuster

In my first deployment as an adjuster handling hurricane claims in southern Florida, it very quickly became apparent what things were essential to success and what things weren’t.

Equipment in general and gadgets in particular, for instance, weren’t particularly vital to my success. I didn’t have the latest and greatest laser tape measure. I only had one, modestly sized fold-up ladder. Unlike some adjusters who towed a second home behind their tricked out dualie pick-up, I drove a decade old Honda Accord coupe.

Time Management for the CAT Adjuster (1st in a series)

When I first got into CAT adjusting, I was completely new to the industry. My first storm manager gave me an ominous warning; “Adam, I’ve never fired a CAT adjuster, but I’ve seen many, many new adjusters fire themselves.” It didn’t take me long to figure out what he was talking about. CAT adjusting is fantastic, rewarding, challenging, lucrative work, but it’s not easy money. There are lots of skills to master, and it takes perseverance and character.
