It’s About Time: The Property Technical Certification

In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma in 2005, untested claims adjusters were sent en masse to assist in handling the overwhelming volume of claims arising from these storms. Insurance carriers and adjusting firms, pushed perhaps beyond their limits to effectively respond, were jokingly said to deploy anyone with a drivers license and a pulse, and the first requirement was negotiable. The result, however, was often less than amusing.

Interesting Trend – Demand for Adjusters Licensed in New York

Bottom line; we recommend that you hold a license in their state of residence and other limited strategic states, depending on your claims company requirements, your state of residence and your aspirations in the claims industry. If your state of residence does not license adjusters, we recommend obtaining significant, strategic state licenses, such as high-weather activity states (TX, FL, GA) and state with fewer adjusters, such as New York.
