HAZWOPER 40 Online Course FAQ
Can HAZWOPER 40 be completed 100% online?
Yes! Our course includes 8 hours of required video viewing which represents an approved classroom equivalent to the 8 hour hands-on session. Please keep in mind that whether you take the course online or in a classroom, you will still need to be trained in the use of any particular protective equipment per the specific company for which you work.
In reference to the requirement for employees to have "a minimum of three days actual field experience under the direct supervision of a trained experienced supervisor," per HAZWOPER regulation, can I do my hands-on training during that time?
No. The 3 day requirement of direct supervision is not related to the training requirement. The additional apprentice-like requirement is meant to ensure that newly trained employees are not sent to a work site without supervision and support. This is not part of their training period. It is part of their job.
How long will the course take to complete?
This course was designed to take a specific amount (40 hours) of time. As the course is to some degree self-paced and self-directed, some students may finish more quickly and others less quickly.
Do I have to finish the course in one sitting?
Absolutely not. Courses are accessed via login id and password and progress is made at your own pace. Logging out and logging back in will return you to where you left off. However, it is important that once you begin an individual section you complete it otherwise you will be required to start it over if you log out and back in.
Can I take the course from more than one computer?
Yes. As access is achieved via username and password, any computer meeting the basic system requirements will suffice for progressing through the course.
