Insurance Claims Adjusters

Adjuster Careers

If you are considering getting licensed as an Independant Claims Adjuster there is something you should keep in mind. Many people look into claims adjusting as a career when they hear about how lucrative it is. However, this is not entirely accurate. Depending on the type of Adjuster you are, and what sorts of Claims you work, your income can vary from a salary of $25,000 a year to as much as $100,000 for a rare few.

There are 2 variables to consider for this. First and foremost is whether you are a Staff Adjuster or an Independant Adjuster. A Staff Adjuster is job security, you get paid regardless of what happens. Unforunately that security comes at the price of a much smaller paycheck. Independant Insurance Adjusters can rake in much higher numbers, but you are participating in something of a gamble. Rather literally in fact, since you are betting on bad weather. When catastrophes strike, a good Independant Adjuster can easily make over $1,000 a day. But the flip side is on a calm year you might not make a single dime from Adjusting.

A good article on Insurance Claims Adjuster incomes can be found here.

I do not want to discourage you from pursuing a career as an Insurance Adjuster, but rather I am trying to give you fair warning. There is good money to be made by Independant Adjusters, but it would be a good idea to have something else in reserve for good weather years.

The Education section of the website is mostly dedicated to people who are interested in the field, though there are things in it that can benefit even experienced Adjusters. Here we provide training courses for the Xactimate 25 software package and the Texas and Florida Adjuster licenses (two of the most prestigous and recognized licenses in the industry.) And we also have further information for actually obtaining the state licenses after you complete your training.
